Default Bangladesh Cricket Drama

So many drama is going on in bd cricket.

- As per news, Tamim gave up captaincy and will not play Asia Cup.

- Riyad failed (?) Yo-yo test (possibly kicked himself out of selection - his own fault - wtf was he doing all these time?)

- News is coming out that Tamim feels that Shakib gets more priority and is causing a rift. - if you ask me, Shakib is a better candidate to lead during this WC.

- Bijoy is not included in the training camp because of "attitude" problem

The same people thought we will win the 2011 world cup.

I wonder if this WC will be worse than the 2003 edition. I will be very glad if we can manage to beat the dutch

The team is in a really bad shape too.

Liton Das and Shanto have developed the disease of having no game sense. Nasum will get creamed. Fizz and Mehediy have become ineffective. Fielding and wicket keeping is sub par.

Let's not forget the coach. Even before, he created so many rifts in the dressing room. Same all over again. This guy has sever attitude problem to a point in SLC kicked him out and bcb brought him back after the last humiliation he gave

What is sad is that everyone in the comments are praising him.

Oh, boy. This will set Tanzim back big time, unless he apologies quickly and very publicly.

Don't understand how a young kid can espouse such outmoded beliefs.

He has said nothing offensive. Un-PC for the blue-haired woke mob to bring knives out? Yeah sure. Then again cricket like major ESG corporations has gone woke. As much I disagree with this kid's stance, I will defend his right to say it. Something Dems and libs have forgotten along the way instead of bullying people into submission and apologies.

Disagree that he said nothing offensive. I'm sure women and women's rights groups won't be too thrilled about his comments.

The kid is 20. This is an unnecessary impediment right at the outset of his career. From a practical standpoint, it would probably be best if he apologizes and puts this thing behind him as quickly as possible. Not sure this should be the hill that he dies on.

Those rights groups are also extremist like him. He has free speech to say whatever he wants.

This is stupid on so many levels. This is what many Pakistanis normally think and treat women. Not that surprised it’s also in Bangladesh since we have so many ill educated religious teachers.

But this is where BCB need to coach young players in how to behave on social media and media in general.

Even if the kid is decent as a player his likeable factor will put him backwards when it comes to selection for the national team.

This is not just about rights groups. You don't think many women in general would be offended by what he said?

I agree that he is free to express his opinion. But then he risks being cancelled by society at large. That is also freedom of expression.

It would be a shame if he sabotages his own career/future by standing too steadfastly behind such outdated (even outlandish) views on women.

Bangladesh mens cricket team has failed to secure any significant international trophies. Given the current state this team is highly unlikely to win anything except for bi-lateral series at Mirpur in the foreseeable future.

On the other hand the women's team has already won the Asia Cup against a dominant India side. So, of course some B-list Bangladeshi male cricketer feel insecure as hell about women stepping outside of the kitchen.

Of course they are offensive, but he still has the right to express himself. This day in age, you can get offended by literally anything.

He is a kid, a teenager and he grew up in an environment that may have been limiting. He will change his ways or not as he experience life.

The exposure is a good reminder that he now has world wide audience and he needs to be careful what he writes. I hope the right response is moving on from the outraged ppl and is a reminder to pay attention to his behavior and character moving forward....

And Not full blown destroy the kid cuz he shared some inflammatory post. Focus on actions not words. Maybe he will turn out to be the most loving husband and a father in his generation.

Now if he was caught beating up his wife everyday , I would write something different but seriously this is a post that looks a little uncomfortable if u apply a western norm. He doesn't want his wife working outside lol. Good for him , he needs to make the national team consistently to provide for her. Focus on that.

Actually now that I am older, the family where one person is working and the other is at home run more efficienthly. Ppl don't have this set up now because most can't earn enough to survive on one income. Or two career focused ppl got married.

Reality is, No one likes working and rather stay home. Staying home is fun these days... many women want that. Being at home is more freeing. Problem becomes when there is control of money . Otherwise stay at home spouse is a really good deal.

He also has posts about 'murti bhanga (breaking idols)'. In the next 2 years Liton Das will be his captain, how would he feel that his teammate making hurtful comments about his religion?

Imagine the outrage if an up and coming Indian bowler started posting about demolishing mosques.

Disciplinary action is required l. He is 20 years old, a public figure and not some child. Your actions have consequences.

yeah. that's unfortunate. Commenting being a teenager on ideal relationship/marriage where u have no clue or experience on such a thing is much different than writing hateful comments about other religion. Teenager is old enough to understand this at least. This kid needs some guidance. And not the type where don't write bad things because now ppl are watching but the type where he needs to genuinely learn to respect others. When he can establish that, such comment will never come out.

HIs world is broadening now, he will be travelling a lot and mixing with a lot of different ppl - i expect he will change drastically. But this is disappointing nonetheless because he also grew up with I am sure many Hindu bangladeshis.

Not singing the national anthem is also worrying. I went to his FB and he has a lot of extremist views and specially on women which is the fun topic of all mullahs.

He is young and a promising cricketer and I hope he receives proper guidance. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance but he has to realize quickly that this mindset is unacceptable in this day and age especially when women contribute significantly to our economy as a workforce and we have a Women's cricket team! Nigar Sultana should ask him to clarify his views on her team. Whether they should all stop playing and stay home or not.

^contribution of women is irrelevant in context of relationship. He wants in a woman what he wants. He will only marry one not billion of them. So I don't know why ppl get so worked up when someone has preference of a homely religious girl rather than one chasing a career or multiple men before she finds a fantasy unicorn. Homely ones make great wife. Mother. And bring loads of happiness.

If he wants a partner to stay home and ranna banna for him, that's his preference. He should preface his posts with that. There is a difference between "women should x..y..z" vs I want "my partner/wife to be.. "
