He didn’t say he was one of the best, he said one of the fastest.

The guy plays spin better than any BD batsman I have seen, but that doesn't mean he can't play pace. He just plays spin better. Nothing wrong with that. We rarely play outside the subcontinent anyways.
But Dawlat Zadran is a decent fast bowler. He'd be better than most from WI, SL, and BD, especially with his reverse swing in the death. Heck he's better than any PAK seamer not named Hasan and he'd walk into India's team as well. Here's him vs Musa:
Quote:
48.6 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, FOUR, short again and width on offer this time. Mosaddek pounces on it and slaps it to the sweeper cover fence. Fielder dives and tries to get his hand to it but ends up pushing the ball to the rope
48.5 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, SIX, short ball, Mosaddek pulls and the ball goes clean over deep midwicket. There was a fielder at the boundary there but he had no chance of grabbing that. Timed that superbly and that's the 200 for Bangladesh
48.5 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, 1 wide, shorter length and bowls it down leg, Mosaddek tries to pull but can't make contact
48.4 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, no run, slams this fuller ball hard but can't beat the fielder at mid-off
48.3 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, no run, good length, looks to back away and cut but it moves back in late and he can't put bat to ball
48.2 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, FOUR, tries to bowl it full and wide, Mosaddek waits for it and gently glides it past the point fielder by opening the face of hi bat. Crowd getting behind every run now
48.1 Dawlat Zadran to Mosaddek Hossain, no run, yorker on the stumps, digs it out to mid-off
|
My mistake it wasn't Ferguson, it was Southee. Even better for my argument though as Tim Southee is one of the best ODI bowlers in the world at the moment, especially in NZ conditions:
Quote:
44.4 Southee to Mosaddek Hossain, 1 run, slower wide ball, cut square of the wicket and that brings up the fifty for Mosaddek
44.4 Southee to Mosaddek Hossain, 1 wide,
44.3 Southee to Mosaddek Hossain, SIX,
44.2 Southee to Mosaddek Hossain, FOUR, short of a length, angling in, swats it it over mid-on with a flat bat
44.1 Southee to Mosaddek Hossain, no run,
|
And Lahiru Kumara, yes is not a great bowler, but he is one of faster bowlers from the subcontinent, no slower on average than a Kagiso Rabada:
Quote:
9.4 Kumara to Mosaddek Hossain, SIX, flat-bats the pull and it has sailed over the ropes at deep square leg. Moved to the leg side and then played the tennis shot. Ah, the fearlessness of youth. Looked to tuck him up but followed him, no problems for Mosaddek. Sensational batting
49.3 Kumara to Mosaddek Hossain, 2 runs, moves to the leg side, bowler follows him and then Mosaddek wrists this into the gap at deep fine leg. The throw is on the bounce to Chandimal, who looks to deflect it to the stumps but can't. One for the overthrow. What match awareness
|
In conclusion, Mosaddek has had very few opportunities, and even fewer against "pace", but whatever opportunity he's gotten, he's done OK, if not remarkably well given his lack of experience and youth.
Consider yourself educated.

Tushar Imran missed out on his century by 35 runs.
The guy is consistently making runs.

Raj only made the squad because Shakib was unavailable. No point playing 3 SLAs. The battle will be between Taijul and Raj for the 2nd specialist spinner spot.

But raj is the inform spinner. Checkout mehedi’s stats over the last year or so. Taijul has been better than mehedi as well.

Raj is an inform spinner. But it doesnt make a lot of sense strategically to play 3 SLAs in the squad. Mehedi still has 48 wickets in 22 innings. Thats not bad at all

It's impressive to see Liton scoring a double hundred with 100 plus strike rate.

I understand that point of view but if there is a big difference in performance, at some point you have to just say this player might be similar to others but the only other option just isn’t close enough to this player to pick them.
Sorry if that’s confusing, to come across more clearly, you might already have 2 SLAs in the squad but if the third spin option is an offie averaging say 45 or another SLA who averages about 30 then isn’t it worth considering 3 SLAs?
Variety is nice and can give an advantage but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best xi or squad.
Also mehedi’s batting surely comes into it as well which he has a clear advantage in over the other spinners.

Ah I’m shattered liton couldn’t make it to the triple, don’t get many opportunities for it. Marvellously lengthy yet rapid innings nonetheless.

Afif impressive, yet to get out in FC cricket from 50-99. So far every time he’s passed 50 he’s gone on to make it a ton. Also 4 tons from 8 matches.
