ENG vs PAK -- 3rd ODI
"What a game What a game" --- if you are PAK fan.
"What a bummer, depressing performance" -- if you are a ENG fan
"Another one of those one sided matches" -- if you are none.
Looks like the so called GIANT is slowly and surely becoming a punching bag in this tour.

England captain himself (MV) knows they are not among the elites in ODI. Foreign pitch, foreign land, so this should not come as a shock. However, the margine of losing is a bit to the extreme.
In test, thats where it hurts more for the English fan. I am afraid they won't find it easy in the next tour either. They desparately need a spinner or two.
Experience of losing to the aussies were negetive points for thorpe, butcher and others. So the new generation was brought in who had no fear and beat the Australians at home were they had experience. These boys had no idea how sub-continent conditions are. It is not like SA nor WI. Here the old boys who battled and had scars could have performed better than the young inexperienced team.

To some excuse for England... they played this ODI without Vaughan, Pietersen, Giles, Simon Jones and Hoggard, and that counts!

I don't know about that. The players who replaced the above players actually played more or less batter than the rest of the team.
I don't know if Vaughan, Giles and Hoggard can make that much of a difference. Simon Jones? Who knows, I doubt he could make that much difference in Pakistani soil.
The only downer was the loss of Pietersen, who has the potential of a difference maker. But on the other had, so far he have have done little.
So for me .... if they want excuse that can use that.... but in reality.... things are pretty bad ... with or without them.

I wish Hoggard would stop being mentioned as someone who should be in the one day side. He isn't as good with the white ball and is often flogged all over the park in one day cricket. That is why he doesn't get picked.
Vaughan is a rubbish one day player and England are better without him in the one day side.
Pietersen is a loss, and Giles is to an extent.

Why doesn't vaughn open? His classical shot making works better with Test-style felds anyway and at least he can go for broke in the first 10 overs and any immediate Powerplay

Vaughan shouldn't be batting anywhere in the one day side in my opinion. He should just focus on test cricket.
For the record, he opened last year and went about 10 innings without making 20.

i think englands bowling for an odi side is pretty weak.
apart from harmsion and flintoff the rest i dont see makin breakthroughs or takin crucial wickets etc. simon jones is untested in odi cricket, anderson is off form and plunkett is the new kid. is that the reason why we keep seeing darren gough still playin?(barring from current series)

Rob, where was this? In windies, the pitches won't be seaming so he might do alright. B'sides I'm not convinced with Strauss as a ODI opener.
