BD's Estranged Sibling Enters the Big League
A historic Day for Indian Space Programme as India Successfully made it's first commercial satellite launch by placing Italian Satellite AGILE in orbit.
With that, India entered the big league of US, Japan, France, Russia and China in terms of countries that have mad commercial launches of satellites.
Just feel very proud today and wanted to share it with you guys. Who knows, BD maybe able to save a lot of $$ when they next decide to have one of their satellites launched

Hatebreed, since when did we need satellites to spy on you.
Seems you don't read the comments by many a BD Cricket Members about RAW, RAW Agents etc. .
Also, teh last time we used a satellite to spy on you, we ended up picking images of BD Cricket teams famous dance following their win over India. Since then, our satellites have stopped hovering anywhere near BD .

I hope and pray, No BD high official never tries to create a similar project.
We have the brains to use others property. In course of time we will do it. Why waste resources?

LOL I'm worried you might be spying on our abundance of banana reserves.
According to RAW we are strategically deploying banana skins in the border so your Army slips 360° if they invade Bangladesh.

Tigers_Eye,
I don't think you understood the post properly. It is not about launching a satellite for the first time (we did that way back in 80s). It is about providing satellite launch service on a commercial basis. For example, India launched AGILE (Italian Satellite) and charged an approx. 11 millions for it. Going forward, it's gonna be doing more of that and making money that in past, we have paid to other countries for our own launches.
I am not saying BD needs to have a similar project but i am not sure what you mean by "I hope and pray, No BD high official never tries to create a similar project. We have the brains to use others property. In course of time we will do it. Why waste resources?"

Being a country of limited resources (look at how meagre our budget is compared to the developed nations), what we have accomplished in the field of Space and Satellite Technology should hopefully inspire many others.

Good news, desi countries should involve themselves more on Space and Satellite Technology. May be together we can show the world what we are capable of.

I hope you would understand now.
Tomar jomi, amar jomi

tomar jomi'r foshol diya
bhormu amar khamar.
We will use our brains not only to use that satellite but also make sure Indian govt pays us gratitude. We don't need our own one. The maintainence cost is huge.

Tigers_Eye,
I get the drift.
"We will use our brains not only to use that satellite but also make sure Indian govt pays us gratitude."
Sure enough and all powers to "your brains" that are gonna achieve that . But then, to quote Dayal Baba,
Dayal baba, kala khaba Gas lagaiye khao
Porer gaser pane keno mitmitaiya chao Baba Re?
What applies to Bananas applies to satellites too. And suddenly, Tigers_Eye is an apt example for Dayal Baba's Banana-theif
"We don't need our own one. The maintainence cost is huge"
Jokes aside, I am not sure i agree on that one. When you lease/purchase satlellite services for your Telecom/Networking/Television/Telemetry/Other needs, you pay a lot of money to the owner. But then again, you maybe right. I haven't studied the extent of satellite usage as far BD is concerned.
Then again, if you ever decide to launch a satellite of your own, let me be the first one to offer our services - economic and reliable and with extended courtesy .

Congrats, DJ. It's always good to have as many nations providing commercial launching facilities as possible; prevents a monopoly.

What is Indian achievement today - will be a part of SAARC heritage tomorrow. Therefore all of us will be benefited from it in the future and we will call it our own.
