Shakib's Bowling
Whats happening to it? Ive been watching all of the bangladesh matches in the last 3 years and have noticed a big change in Shakib's bowling recently. Its fantastic that his batting is so great right now and i would rather have him scoring runs than taking wickets in ODIs as we have some ok bowlers, but its still very worrying. Has anyone noticed how he doesnt get as much turn these days? Its not going to be noticed much now as we are winning but in a few months it will be. Ever since he started bowling in the IPL ive noticed him bowling flatter and producing less turn. Batsmen look much more comfortable against him now than they used to...

Mirpur hasnt been a good ground for Shakib . Shakib needs a pitch that gives him some assistance . Most of his wickets are with the ARM bowl . To get an wicket off an arm ball you would need to spin one or two away from the crease and make the Batsman play on the back foot . Once he is on the back foot the arm ball is murderous . Sadly the pitch in Mirpur is batsman friendly and offers little assistance for Shakib.
To negate that shakib now bowls with a flatter trajectory (which prompted Rameez Raja to call him a left handed spin version of Malinga). Less air and more of a stump to stump kind of line . A 'limiting damage' kind of bowling . Last two matches he bowled way to many deliveries on the leg side and paid the price for it . I am sure he will bounce back tomorrow and keep that tight line on the off stump.

As long as he is winning matches with the bat...I'm ok with him. Mirpur isn't a spin friendly track.... Still he is amongst wickets. Nothing to worry about his bowling yet.

Not worried. These three teams are all good players of spin plus he has had to bowl the power play overs. I don't think he is focusing on turning as much as he is focusing on containment at the moment. I feel a big bowling performance is just around the corner.

I'll always judge the state of his bowling from his Test match performances which till the most recent Pakistan test, has been OK
