The earthquake didn't seem very strong but it was loong. Don't know what sort of seismic acivity caused this.

I just hope our buildings are not falling like West Indian wickets.

Dearest Helal bhaiya, this is a great story!! So wonderfully written!! Your vivid portrayal of the central character "Jamal" very much comes alive. Your character's voice always has a certain tone of guilt, of memories of the past that is contantly bleeding and causing internal pain and suffering. Your work very often connects us between the modern western city dweller with his deep rural, very earthy Bangali past from his childhood/home. Your writing style reminds me of Monika Ali. Thank you for sharing your writing with us.

1. Helal bhaiya (FagunerAgun Mama), who is your main character's influence? How do you come about him? Is it that, in your sub-conscience you simply write about your own self, your very own personal pain?

2. How do you come about this character Lady Lula? Is this Lula meaning Bikolango?

Bujhee Kom, thanks for the first paragraph, good analytical observation.

Nothing personal here, it is a direct result of close observation and interaction with so many people, specially people from Kurigram, I watch them in a precarious situation because of deadly river erosion almost every month in the daily newspapers, now I like to do something for them, but I can't except writing this one.

This name is a Bangla version of Latino Loula, but you are partly right, she is bikolango in 'the world of virtues' and an epitom of freedom and liberty in the free world, as stated in the preamble in a different way.
