Good to get familiar with our future, but I believe we have finally passed the stage when we have to pick up kids from th U-19 to the National team. These kids should be groomed at the Academy team after this, and then the A team, and should be handed the cap, provided that they perform,at around 22-23.

hahahah he said he's better than his brother in an interview? What a nice little brother

cricket_king: I don't think that's what he meant... just an unclear use of pronouns
In many interviews relating to SN, he himself (Nafees) and other players said that he (Nayeem) is a much better batsman than SN.

These are two different thread.
I wanted to keep the track of all the events of Bangladesh U-19 team in this thread.
I don't want to make it event specific.
Hang on! I see your point.
Moderators can we merge the two threads keeping the thread title " Bangladesh U-19 cricket team thread"?

Nice to see a schedule, full of matches. This is a good preparation before the WC. BCB should be congratulated for this. Who are the coaches for this u-19 team? Do we have a physio for this team? What is our seeding for the WC? Has the grouping been done already?

The 5 one day cricketers for SL tour (Tushar, Aftab, Riyad, Tamim, Reza) along with other BCB enlisted players are playing a practice match in mirpur today. And the opposition is recently announced BD U-19 team. Should be an interesting game.

Miraz Bhai, are any of the games in July-August taking place in Bangladesh?
If so, could you please let me know of the dates and venues? I desperately want to see some good live cricket involving Bangladesh!

Bangladesh A beat U-19s
Staff Correspondent
Bangladesh A team defeated the Sri Lanka- and Malaysia-bound national Under-19 squad by 34 runs in a warm-up match at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Winning the toss the Bangladesh A team that included five players selected for the one-day series against Sri Lanka elected to bat first and posted 228-9 in the stipulated 50 overs.
All-rounder Riyad celebrated his national team call-up by scoring 83 off 116 balls hitting four fours and three sixes while paceman Nazmul Hossain, batting at number seven, made a significant contribution hammering 57.
His 89-ball innings included five fours and a six. Tushar Imran also scored 29 runs for the A team. Kibria took 3-39 for the U-19s while Rubel returned with 2-33.
In reply, the U-19 boys were bundled out for 194 in 47.1 overs in the face of lethal bowling from Farhad Reza and Enamul Haque Jr, who both captured three wickets conceding 33 and 39 runs respectively.
Skipper Mahmudul Hasan scored highest 31 runs for U-19s as Ariful and Mithun contributed 28 and 26 runs respectively.
The Under-19 team will leave home on June 30 for back-to-back tours of Sri Lanka and Malaysia

NAFEES MEETS NAYEEM
The Taj Samudra hotel seemed to be a home for Bangladesh cricket after the national under-19 squad arrived in the capital yesterday.
The young Bangladeshi cricketers, who came here to play a series against their Sri Lankan counterparts and then a triangular series with India later this month, has also been accommodated in the hotel.
National opener Shahriar Nafees was the most excited with the arrival of the youth team as his younger brother, Iftekhar Nayeem, is in the side.
"It's really thrilling as we hardly have any scope to meet each other as both of us have different schedules. I feel very good that my younger brother is here with me," said a visibly excited Nafees.
Unlike his brother, Nayeem is a right-handed batsman.
The Bangladesh under-19 team however got a bitter travel experience as they had an arduous 16-hour stopover at the Kuala Lumpur airport and a further three hours at the Maldives capital Male before landing at Colombo via a Malaysian Airlines.

Striking feature #1: Just the one tall bowler (I hope he's a bowler, and a quickie at that too), unless the others are having a seat in the front row.
(Not so) Striking feature #2: Nayeem seems to have the same hair style that Nafees had a few months ago.

A couple of pictures.
U-19 team upon arrival in the Samudra Hotel in Colombo
Nafees and his younger brother Nayeem greet each other...if I was there, I would've said to my brother "what a coincidence bro...you're here too?"...but it's so nice, two brothers, same city, abroad, for their job, which happens to be playing for two different teams also...nice
