Which one will be the perfect match for Donald Duck?
Kamala, Beto, Warren, Booker - all fell into this type of mistake so far.

Politicians are concerned about relating to people and coming across as authentic. In this pursuit, they think they need to minimize the difference between their public persona and private persona, because their public persona often projects them as aloof. They then mistakenly try to minimize this difference by sharing personal anecdotes or showing a snap of their personal lives.

To relate to black people, Hillary said she always keeps hot sauce in her bag.

To relate to the millennials, Hillary said she plays Pokémon.

Kamala said she used to listen to a genre of music at a time when it was not even in existence. Warren showed a clip where she is sharing beer with her husband. Booker showed getting his hair shaved. Beto showed getting a tooth job a dentist.

Result? It backfired.

To relate with people, you don't need to share your private life. You don't need to share personal anecdotes.

People know very well that your public persona is different from your private persona. This is true for each and everyone of us.

Therefore, if you want to come across as authentic and trustworthy to people - show two things. Passion about your policy, and past history/action/voting records. Your passion and your action speak louder than your personal anecdote and cute snapchat.

Bernie does not even comb his hair. Trump does not care about this grade three language. Both of them almost never share any personal anecdote. Yet, they relate to people seamlessly. Both of them have been transformative politicians (one positively and one negatively of course). Because what they talk about, exudes passion. And for Bernie, his past voting record and actions speak for themselves. Thus people easily relate to him because they can trust him without losing their sleep.

If Kamala, Warren, and other want to do well, they need to take note. If they keep sharing their personal lives, it will only give fodder to Trump to take cheap shots.

Bernie Sanders launches his second presidential bid

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/...n-2020-1173598

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/...n-2020-1173608

Quote:
"People in many ways are rightfully cynical about politics,” said Weaver. “And the fact that somebody has been consistent, including when it was not easy and including when it was perceived by many in the establishment to be politically disadvantageous to have stood for those issues, I think signals to voters that one is truly committed to those issues and that the person will aggressively pursue those policies and not trade them away when it’s hard.”
Quote:
This month, Ben Tulchin, Sanders’ pollster, circulated a memo about an online survey he conducted in late 2017 for progressives who were hoping to flip state legislative seats in West Virginia. The poll found that Sanders would beat Trump by 2 percentage points in the state — despite the fact that Trump won West Virginia, 69-27, and that no Democratic presidential candidate has carried the state since 1996.

To operatives in both parties, the notion that Sanders could defeat Trump in one of the president’s strongholds strains credulity. But the Sanders team is convinced the Vermont senator’s appeal to independent voters, the white working class, and people of color is underestimated — and could pay dividends in unexpected places in a general election. They argue that his anti-establishment and populist economic message, as well as his many years of representing rural voters, makes him competitive in not only the Rust Belt states where Hillary Clinton faltered but also potentially in deep-red states, too.

They’re not just talking about West Virginia. Some in the Sanders camp envision possibly making a play for Iowa, Ohio, and Indiana, as well as states such as Kansas, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Montana — six states that, together, have voted for the Democratic nominee just twice in the past half-century.

also Hillary set the precedence - so many women candidates.

They say "ustad er mair shesh raite"...let's see if ustad has enough left in his tank given that he literally waited till "shesh rait"...If he's elected president he'll turn 80 soon after taking office.

Haha

Mair dibo na khaibo ? He will try but will not get much done with no control over Congress and a trump picked supreme Court . But he will create a lot of headache for many corporations .

Current president has a lot of luck thats been going for him as well .... He has been given all the ammunition's to do things . He can do so much more .... He had the whole Congress under his party ... Now he has the supreme Court . He should do more good damage than many other presidents .

The thing that could work against Berney is his age. And also he is way too much of a gentleman in debates.

Not only that, Trump also has a chance of appointing another republican supreme court nominee. If he can highlight that, republicans will vote for him again. The only challenge here will be the level of anger on the democrats side. the turnout of the democrat voters will be crucial.

If God blesses with life and good health, age is not an issue. Mahathir become PM again at the age of 93. God forbid, if you dare speak about the age of Nancy Pelosi (78) or Diane Feinstein (85) or Joe Biden (77), you will be labeled as sexist. But when it comes to Bernie, the script flips immediately.

If given nomination, Bernie will prove to be the second coming of FDR. He will win states coast to coast.

if given nominations>? Let him win the nomination first before giving victory speeches. If he resonates with everyone then he should have won last time and gotten the nominations.

Last time he was the true winner but DNC CHEATED and coronated their queen.

Bernie was filling stadiums and Hillary was struggling to fill small lecture halls, but she won mysteriously.

Result? Hillary going to her grave as SOS and Bernie getting another chance to run

he's only 4 years older than Trump. And isn't overweight and subsisting on big macs and diet cokes.

Now is he going to get past a primary field that has some young up and comers like Booker and Lotus Kamala? we'll see.

Bernie vs Trump is the battle we should have seen 3 years ago. Debbie Wesserman cheated the american public and should be jailed. 3 years ago, I think Bernie could have won. But this time around, I'm not sure he can beat an incumbent Trump. The only guy who really has a chance is Bloomberg.

Bloomberg negates all of trump's schtick. He's everythign Trump wants to be seen as: a true self made billionaire, a guy who actually ran New York and wasnt just boasting as one. The fact that Michael is richer takes away a big part of trump's identity.

The only issue is that Bloomberg isnt really a true dem, but if he can manage to get past the primary, he will get the dem votes and all the moderate republican votes as well.

The latest Morning Consult polls show Biden winning the nomination...and among those who have thrown their hats into the dems race, it's Bernie.

Biden 30, Sanders 21, Harris 11, Warren 8, O'Rourke 7, Booker 5, Klobuchar 4, Bloomberg 2, Brown 1, Gabbard 1, Castro 1

Another show of his digital strength: The Vermont senator’s announcement video racked up nearly 5.4 million views on Twitter in the first day, more than any other 2020 contender’s formal announcement or exploratory committee video, most of which have been online for weeks.

Let Biden Run. His number will go in negatives.

Other than Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard has the best chance I believe. She is really underrated, but once voting starts, she will surprise every one.

Warren, an impressively progressive candidate, will probably lose because she will not be forgiven for her BETRAYAL in 2016.

We've known from since the last election cycle that Bernie has a good following among youths. The online generation.

Yes I agree with you about your comment on Biden, Sanders and Tulsi.

Biden is status quo and a boring candidate, his number will most likely fade as the race hits up. Any indication that the old party establishment wants him will drive away the young and progressive voters (thanks to Hilary and dnc for past primary)
