Having said all this, if people criticize Mujib's role after 1971 - I don't have any problems - it is fair that as the head of the government he is accountable.

You said it all mate ... most people of our generation who do not like Mujib is due to 2 reasons:

1. Most important reason is the post 1971 era. Creation of রক্ষিবাহিনী, বাকশাল etc.
2. The excessive media hammering of Mujib / জাতির পিতা etc. during 1996-2001. This is a less important reason but it had its adverse effect. লেবু বেশি কচলালে যা হয়।

If you don't support Mujib you are definitely a rajakar.

Now, you started and ended your argument claiming if someone does not like Mujib he is (definitely/most likely) Razakar. And all the arguments you provided was regarding the period leading to 1971.

But in all of Mujib's criticisms - it seems like - you'll hear echoes of Pakistan era criticisms of him. That he was too close to India (selling the country to India etc), that he was hindu-leaning bengali who didn't care about Islam and Muslims. And the critics(rajakars and their progenies) mix these pre-1971 criticisms with some of his post-1971 failures - and have been able to deliver it with their subtle propaganda.

During 1971 or prior to that -- some of people disliked Mujib. Why? Because he was heading the section of the political spectrum at that time that wanted our Bengali identity established. Some people used to think that he was going against the concept of Pakistan. Now Pakistan was created on the basis of creating a separate nation for Muslims. So if Mujib is against Pakistan that meant that he was against Islam (sic). (Some people had the notion that anyone discrediting Pakistan is discrediting Islam --- a legacy of Pakistan's equating of Islam with nationalism)

A lot of Rajakars survived 1971. Some changed their masks and joined anti Awami parties after 1971. It is kind of old wine in new bottles. Some resurfaced after Mujib’s death and reinvented their Islami politics (this time as the defender of ‘Bangladeshi’ nationalism)

Spot on dude. Did you know that I was a big time rajakar? I guess Shahriyar counts as rajakar aswell since he hates BAL too.

Nice to hear it is back. But will this channel ignite the same passion it it four years ago? Now, it has much more competition. It will have to re-establish itself.

ETV's terristorial broadcasting rights is facing another lawsuit.

I heard this from a senior staff of Channel-1. This was published in newspapers within the past 1/2 days but I missed out on it.

Can anybody provide the full story?
