I am bit confused and scratching my head by your mosque story. You are saying there were no mosque within 30 min walking distance from where you were in Mohammadpur. ahem..I can find you at least ten within two/three miles radius from that location! But, you probably missed it, since you spent a lot of time in Kakrail, but still assuming you walked to kakrail, you must have at least walked past a few on your way. Dhaka is the city of Mosques ..

Absolutely right. You won't find any para moholla without a single mosque in Dhaka.

There is a tendency of building mosque in every single para/moholla in Dhaka city.Apart from population problem having a mosque in own area beautify the area.Sometime more than 1 mosque can be noticed in singe and small area.bit unnecessary but not bad.Somewhere you will see residents of a small para/moholla getting divided into two parts like AL & BNP due to management of mosque.this is another issue.but one of the reasons of Dhaka being city of mosque imo.

Raising fund for building a local mosque wasn't a rare scenario back in 80/90 rather common.

so i think Blah was true on this matter.I also trust his confession about forgetting Islamic acts though once being a so called religious guy.

NB: I dislike Blah's entire Plan.totally a waste of time/brain.no offense.Life can be more easy & beautiful.Spending some times in village beside Decca will prove it.

It seems like you're very prone to swing from one extreme to the other i.e from fanatical religiosity to millitant atheism. Perhaps, you should strive to find that happy medium in all that you do through adequate reflection, consideration, sincerity and continuous seeking of knowledge and wisdom. Lets face it, we all were given very little knowledge.

And, I'm sure you will be fine in Dhaka as long as you dont keep dangling atheism like a mula and keep poking people with it

Btw, I was in Mohammadpur some 20 years ago and there were masjids ,practically, at every corner. I'm sure a few more have been built since then.

i guess Mohammadpur is a huge place, bigger than Dhaka city even...it takes 30 minutes to walk from any one mosque to another...

My parents should come back from Hajj today. I was worried too about the stampede. Thank God they were safe.

My mom accompanied by my cousin sister, niece and others are doing great. The only hardship they had is they had to walk a lot as being a very crowded place it was hard to find or get in available transport.

Thanks to all for your prayers. Now awaiting for their safe journey back to BD.
