Sohel, Japan's consistency in attack and pace seemed to fade considerably as the match went further. And they seemed to press less and less. This could be an issue of CIV gradually finding their flow as the match went on, but could also be an effect of stamina.

They didn't look tired to me at all even when they stopped attacking. They were defending in numbers with incredible energy, and it took two brilliant crosses to break through that wall. They repelled everything else.
I think they were forced into their own zone by a far superior team that finally settled in, and found itself the minute Drogba stepped onto the field. He's only at 60% but his mere presence woke them up. Both CIV and Ghana have finishing issues, but are Cup contenders from defense to top of the mid-field. They can win the Cup once they produce quality finishers like Neymar, Oscar, Fred, Messi, Higuain, Suarez, C. Ronaldo, Torres, Van Persie, Klose etc.
They've only produced two world class finishers from their continent of late. Eto'o has been slowed down by too many matches and age, and an aging Drogba injured and at 60%. Cameroon has many other issues and aren't the class of Ghana or CIV.

Brilliant miss from Gutierrez! An open net from a yard away and all alone. It takes a genius to miss that. The only other blessing I know who can do stuff like that is Isheraikar Jahid Hoshen "Ameli" (pronounced "eh-mee-lee").

Colombia execute a perfect corner kick and Rodriguez gets his head to it. 1-0 Colombia. Now CIV must find a finisher score twice to secure a place in the next round. Does Drogba still have it?
African teams and their finishing issues! Now Ghana have fine young finishers warming the bench until Gyan and Muntari decide to stop missing open nets.

Drogba hits the wall but CIV sustain the pressure.

Flat, ugly corner! Idiot! Colombia counterattack and Quintero score. 2-0 Los Carteleros.

Yaya should take himself out. He's tired and hurting his team's chances.

What a goal from "Zarbhin-ho"! 1-2 CIV. This one is far from over. CIV isn't coached by Mahmudullah Riyad!!!

Yepes is still a very fine defender at 38.

CIV better watch the counterattack! That's how The Cartel scored their second.

Kalou, another non-finisher takes a pitiful shot on goal. Gadha eyakta! A nice move ruined.

Colombia are through! Terrible defensive error cost CIV. Very good match.

Great defensive effort from a 10-man Greece. In fact, they could've won the game had it not been for a couple of outstanding saves from a Eiji Kawashima at the top of his game. The Samurai Blue, perhaps because of technically gifted players like Endo, Honda and Okazaki, spend too much time stringing together too many passes trying to score a beautiful goal. A more positive version to Tiki-Taka if you will, because they always go forward before being repelled. That kind of approach didn't work against a defense that can become airtight with that kind of time. A more direct approach could've earned Japan a much needed victory.

I think Japan is pretty much finished. They play Columbia next and they will most likely lose that match. The Ivory Coast - Greece match will be interesting but I doubt Greece can make any impact. Ivory Coast has a deadly offense, and they almost leveled against Columbia. Greece lacks a genuine striker. So looks like it will be Columbia(1) and Ivory Coast(2) from this group.
