Yep, the Teach Yourself series is good. I'm using their Italian book and it's pretty handy.

Are you Pakistani? Then why not take a trip to Bangladesh? As I said, you will pick up a language zillionath times faster if you immerse yourself. And continue coming to BC. Psychologists have shown we learn faster when we are in play mode and having fun and not from some insipid grammar drills or poring over alphabets.

But then again. At the end of the day, that's just one dogmatic post of mine. Follow whatever works best for you. If you are analytical minded and love grammar lessons then use softwares....

It is true. Immersion is the best way to learn a language.

Like I've been through 6 years of french classes (in school), and I still don't know it, as I never was actually in a situation where I needed to speak it. Thus I slowly forgot.

Lahoriyah, here is the test for you to see how much you progressed. Translate these songs into English and then from english to Urdu (I'm sure you can find the full lyrics online)

1) Rail laier dhare metho poddar pare dariye
2) Ak shagoro rokter binimoye
3) Amra tomar shanto mayer shanto chhele

If you can do it successfully, you pass.

Just say "ami tumake balobashi" to her. Say "tumi zeh shundor" That's it. Just say those two dialogue's and she's all yours.

Fazal - please teach him things that he would actually need. Why will he need to talk with her about ladder and papaya ?

That is better, though "dove" sounds like General Alcazar in Tintin.

Tintin, before you get misled, That IS the Noakhailya dialect Fazal's written:

In Noakhailya --> Bangla --> English, they are:

Koitor --> Kobutor --> Dove / Pigeon
Hul --> Phul --> Flower
Ayee --> Ami --> Me
Hete --> Shey --> He/She
