Most of our regular members are relatively "new" here. Not everyone has the time and energy to go thru the old posts and if someone is taking the time and effort of reliving them, let it be.

I dont think everyone is going to jump in the band wagon of digging up all the dust that has settled.
GB spends far more time here these days than most of us and his harmless antics has been a good edition for most of us.

If the mods have issue with the old threads, either pls lock them all and prohibit us from visiting them. If those threads are barred, there should be a guideline. More like an expiry date.
Eg, threads older than 6 months are barred from reposting.

Or else, it should be left wide open to all.

As myself - I generally agree. We also have the forum rule that echoes what you just said:

A.4 - Please do not resurrect threads older than 6 months if they do not have any relevance to current issues

It's all about relevance. A 2003 thread may be relevant today. And a 2009 maybe not be relevant the moment it is posted.

Thread bumping is looked down upon throughout forum communities everywhere. All Ammar did was inform members in advance to not bump old threads that have no context in present day, and as Dr. Z pointed out, there IS a rule regarding thread bumping.

Yes, it is all about relevance.
I have no problem with either rules, whether discourage it or let it open.
I just thought we should have a guideline and glad to see there is one in place.
Its just hard for us to remember every piece of rules set out on the rules and regulation thread.

But thanks for reminding us.
