What did you do on longest day of the year
If you live in Notherrn Hemisphere, then June 21 is the longest day of the year ( Summer Equinox); which is almost over for the most of the world.
What have you done (or will be doing) today with all that sun around
For those who live on the other half, tonight is longest night
What are you doing...

Since I am in Dhaka now it will be the longest night for me. So I guess I would be able to wake by 10 o clock tomorrow morning. Long night+heavy heavy sleeper= waking up earlier than usual. Usual being defined as any time after 1 in the afternoon.

Shortest day in the calender in Australia.
Which is a pity because I could have used a couple more hours to study.
I have my last exam later on today.
Time for bed.

What does more sunlight or less sunlight got to do with more hours to study? Unless you dont like to study if it is dark outside, or dont have electricity at home then thats a whole different story.

Actually it will be same as USA i.e. longest day of the year. You need to stay for approc. 6 more months to get the longest night in Dhaka.

i believe june 22 is the longest day of the year. i remember reading it on a geography book back in grade four or something. i'm certain because june 22's a special day :P
edit: http://www.analyticalq.com/diary/d000622.htm
but then again, i guess this year it's different? google says it can vary quite a bit.

There is no convienient arrangement to make a precise adjustment to our year every year so as they roll by the actual time of the of the Solstice actually becomes slightly early until adjustment of the leap year moves it back. The consequence of this is that a summer solstice on June 22 will gradually change to June 21 and earlier, a winter solstice from December 22 to December 21 and earlier.
|
hmm...so that's that i guess.

This is 2006, so from next year truely it would be June 22nd. advance Happy Birhtday ATMR.
Whatever the case may be, I still need two more hours per day. 24 hours is not enough for me. I could have done wonders with an eight hour rest.

The first one.
I used to only study at night, but thesedays prefer to study during the day.
But I think I posted that at 3:27am anyway, so it didn't really make a difference.
I just wanted too make an appearance in this thread. For historical purposes.
I think I'm weird.

In fact, equinox literally means "equal night." March and September days are called "equinox." June and December days are called "solstice" days. Anyway, the longest day was another hot and humid day here in Louisiana. I did not get out of home until 10am watched World Cup Matches - showed up for work for an hour and took a lunch break and did not go back to work:-) Watched World Cup Matches again at home. I love this World Cup in summer:-)

My adviser invited us over for a potluck Barbeque. We played different games and interestingly, cricket was one of them.
