Default Bangladesh Parliament May Shorten Sessions For World Cup

i dont know how u guyz may react to this but honestly i had a good laugh at it when i first read it....

i got angry when i first read students postponing exam coz of WC, now MPs are cutting their parliament sessions for it aswell.....

this shows that ppl in our government prioritise their WC infatuation over the interested of the country, for which this poor country is paying this morons for...

DHAKA, June 19 (Reuters) - The speaker of the Bangladesh parliament may cut sessions short so that soccer-crazy politicians can follow the World Cup on television.
"I shall consider (the proposal) so that members can watch the World Cup matches," acting speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiki told the house while presiding over a session on Sunday night.
The acting speaker had been responding to a plea by a treasury bench member who said most of his colleagues in parliament were eager to see matches of their favourite teams.
Brazil was playing Australia in Germany when parliament was in session on Sunday.

Opposition members also requested the speaker to instruct the relevant electricity supply department to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the country during matches.
Soccer fans have attacked and vandalised various local supply offices after power-cuts during matches.
Bangladesh failed to qualify for the World Cup finals, but millions of soccer fans in the country stay up late at night to watch on television.

Because they have more important works like looting Iraq, killing innocent people.:p

Joking aside, in Bangladesh presidential system exist though in paper it is parlamentary. so no harm would be done.

i reckon cuttin the parliament session is a good idea..
it costs a huge amount of money to keep the parliament running ( electricity, maintenance etc etc) every time we've got a session..
n what does our beloved politicians do ?
basically warm up the seat, shout at each other, pointless walk-out, just filling enough quota to keep one session going etc etc..

better use that supply of electricity to help ppl watch the games...

it doesnt make any difference to our economical or political developement with the parliament sessions..

but on the otherhand it makes a mockery of us....but hell, we dont have any reputation anywhere anyway.....bangladesh is more consecutive in getting 'most corrupt nation' award than ashraful scoring over 50 in consecutive games..
